JOBS ARE COMING TO SIERRA COUNTY
Sierra County-February 22, 2010—Relief has come to business owners and low income families in the form of a subsidized employment program. Sierra County S.O.S (Seeking Occupational Services) Program is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The goal of this program is to promote growth for business owners while putting low income families back to work where they can gain new job skills, work skills and earn money. This program will pay 100% of the Participants wages, including liability and workers comp insurance until the end of the program, which is September 30, 2010.
It is very easy to participate in the program. To become an employer you simply need to show proof of liability insurance and agree to supervise the participant at least 25% of the time they work.
To qualify for employment the participant must be a resident of Sierra County, fall below the 200% poverty level and have a dependent of 18 yrs old or younger. Once the participant is determined eligible we will place them with a potential employer.
This is a rare opportunity to bolster Sierra County economy by supporting local businesses, non-profits who may be understaffed and unemployed or low-income families.
